The Dumb Friends League is celebrating 100 years of protecting animals in our community and is the largest animal shelter in the Rocky Mountain Region. Ed and Bob discuss current animal welfare issues and what the Dumb Friends League is doing to address them. Shink was also a member of Governor Ritter's Child Welfare Action Committee that was assembled in 2008 and she has been an advocate for abused and neglected children for nearly 30 years. The committee addressed concerns of child welfare and safety after 13 children died in 2007 who all came from families with contact with Social Services. Ed and Dr. Arvizu talk about NREL’s role in American energy policy and the challenges facing renewable energy development.
